Maldives gained independence after decades of torture's, tears and trauma. On 26th July 1965 the whole country was once again filled with tear. but this time it was that of happiness, success and joy. I am forever grateful for the great leaders that saves us from the misery and let us gain full independence

Freedom

This day is marked in history as the day Maldives gained total independence from the British. 26th July 2021 marks its 56th independence, on this day this photograph was taken during the independence, on this day this photograph was taken during the signing ceremony between the president Ibrahim Nasir and the British. I specifically chose this photograph because I wanted to further cherish the beauty of this momentous day with my brushstrokes, framed with a hand carved an antique frame using the Maldives hiriga patterns. They say a photograph says a thousand words, this photograph has been celebrated upon for 56 long years with wondrous thousand and mush more words by the Maldivians. There's nothing more Maldivian the the love for our nation. This is one of the many National days that unites the people of this nature's beauty in this vast Indian ocean.

The artwork encircles the Independence of Maldives and the burst of individualism that came as a result into a single brush stroke, painted with a literal 'minivan fihi' surrounded by the historic events that led to it. The background depicts the struggles through history to attain and maintain the freedom of the people be it from the Dravidians through naval wars, the freedom and prosperity that came with the conversion to an Islamic faith, the travels with the Kalhu oh'fummi that ultimately liberated Maldives from the Portuguese, and even Dhonbandaarain facing off against the Malabars.

King Muhammad Fareed Didi ,  the son of the Sultan Prince Abdul Majeed Didi , was the last Sultan of Maldives and the first Maldivian monarch to assume the title of "King" with the style of "His Majesty". He was the Sultan of the Maldives from March 7, 1954, until November 11, 1968. He was deposed in 1968 from the throne when Maldives became a republic, and died the following year in Maldives.

In 1975 Maldives gained political Independence from the British It is a day to celebrate but I believe we still have a long way for growth and evolution to gain true independence. We are still stuck in our ways imprisoned by our minds and heart restricted often many times to express our authentic selves and pursuer our dreams. So may of us is not sure how we can be free with in hence this painting represents we are often free in our fantasies

July 26th, the independence day of our country Maldives, conjure memories of remarkable sacrifice made by our forefathers. This day sums up the multiple innovation our country was threatened with over the course of decades. It is fairly easy to illustrate these occurrences along with symbols and characters whilst honoring the ones that attained martyrdom. However the most remarkable aspect of independence day for me is the freedom and blissful sense of liberation felt through remembrance of the past. Th mundane  sense of jubilation and calming peace that lingers with us. That is my drawing back the tragic bloodshed, betrayal and invasion.

Marks of the free sprited

The picture demonstrates the moment the republic of Maldives gained it's independence. While presenting the main colors of Maldives flag  in background, Incorporated with Ibrahim Nasir signs the agreement of independence of Maldives , his mind is in aware of the independence.
The birds represents the Maldives national flag colors, which has been freed from the cage. Flow  of the signature with the boat represents the beauty of this small Island separated by the sea, Moreover the main income of Maldives is fishing.

The artwork represents the untold stories of the queens of our nation who are
shouldering critical responsibilities and hardships to uphold the nation.
The delicate and advertently embroidered kasabu neckline indicates the selfless
handwork and the tremendous power of women in our nation.
While this dotted portrait is inspired Shafiyya, a Maldivian icon who is a great
example of overcoming adversity in life, it is also a tribute to all the women of past
and present who contribute to our nations' development, stability and
independence.

The art work captures the historical figures that played the major roles in the event that lead to the independence of Maldives on 26th July 1965. Sultan Muhammad Fareed Didi in the top center of the art work, on the left Ahmed Hilmy Didi & Abdul Sattar Moosa Did and on the right Ibrahim Nasir who served as Prime Minister of the Maldives  under Sultan Mohamed Fareed Didi.  Also have tweaked some details in the background inspired by Mohammed Thakurufaan who is one of the National heroes of Maldives.

On July 26, 1965, we were emancipated from British colonial rule, marking 56 tears since we gained independence. The agreement giving Maldives the full potential independence was signed on behalf of his Majesty the sultan by Ibrahim Nasir Rannabandeyri Kileygefan. 56 yeas of independence sustains that there's always a gleam of hope even at the darkest times of color lives. It is a day that we should celebrate with the golden colors of our tradition. The hope of living another year of freedom.

The symbol for Independence Day for the past 56 years has always been the iconic photo of
Prime Minister Ibrahim Nasir and Sir Michael Walker, the High Commissioner of the UK,
signing the agreement that gave back our rightful sovereignty.
“Minivankamuge Dhathuru” is an abstract rendition of the timeline of events that led
to the independence of the Maldives. From the country becoming a British Protectorate in
1887 and the establishment of the British Royal Air Force in Addu atoll in 1941, from the
declaration of the United Suvadive Republic and its fall in 1963, the artwork unfolds our
journey to independence; a journey that wrote the boldest lines of our history.
