Police seize Thayyib's phone and electronic devices under a court order

Police have seized the mobile phone and electronic devices of social media activist Thayyib Shaheem under a court order.

Thayyib confirmed to Adhadhu that the police had seized his phone and electronic devices while he was at home.

It is unclear which case these items are connected to.

"Thayyib Shaheem's phone and some electronic devices have been seized under a court order in connection to the circulation of a forged police document," police said in a message sent to media after the news was published.

It must be noted that police previously cloned Thayyib's SIM card during the government of former President Abdulla Yameen. This was facilitated by Dhiraagu with a court order.

Thayyib has more than 51,500 followers on X and is critical towards the government. He was the Senior Executive Director of the Tourism Ministry in the previous government.
