Adhadhu has learnt that employees of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) are being forced to join the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).

Some HDC employees told Adhadhu that they were being forced to sign to the PNC as part of the party's ongoing membership drive.

Social media posts suggest that a senior employee was behind forcing other employees to join the ruling party. One post claims that the senior employee wants to submit a large number of membership forms to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu before September 9.

Cabinet ministers and senior employees of state-owned companies are involved in the membership drive. Sources from PNC told Adhadhu that there was rivalry between them to get the support of President Muizzu.

There were only about 3000 members in PNC a year ago. However, the party currently has 28,704 members. The number is a lot higher including new members, the party leadership said recently.
