A man has been sentenced to 10 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing the cycle of the British Honorary Consul in Maldives Dr. Paul Arthur Van Driessche.
The state pressed two charges of theft against Ahmed Irushan of Dhonveli house from Raa Kandholhudhoo island.
The first charge was for the theft of the cycle and the second charge was for stealing a pair of sunglasses which was under the seat of the cycle.
According to the charge sheet, Paul's cycle was stolen on November 14, 2023 at 10:30 am while parked in front of the Sun Siyam Building.
He pleaded guilty to both charges, entered into a plea agreement with the state and was sentenced to 10 months in jail.
