A large snake was found inside a house in Male' yesterday.

A video showing the capture of the snake from a house in Male' emerged on social media. The snake, which was at least four feet long, was found in a house in Maafannu, Adhadhu understands.

Snakes are occasionally discovered in Male' despite stringent restrictions on bringing snakes to the Maldives or a prohibition on keeping them as household pets.

In most cases, such snakes come to the Maldives inside containers on cargo boats, especially with wood shipments. However, there are rumours about snakes kept as pets in some homes.

The current snake is also believed to be a Burmese python like the one found recently inside a warehouse in Male'.

Burmese pythons are a type of snake that grows very large. This snake is commonly found in South Asia. It usually grows up to 16 feet.
