Two of the five individuals injured in a collision in Hulhumalé Phase 2 are currently receiving treatment on ventilator support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The accident occurred when a motorcycle carrying three people crashed into another vehicle while attempting to evade police.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) confirmed to Adhadhu that while two victims remain on ventilators, the other three are being treated in the general ward.

Sources report that one of the patients on ventilator support has suffered a brain haemorrhage. Additionally, two of the three individuals currently in the ward are reported to be in serious condition.

The family of the victims who were travelling on the motorcycle in accordance with traffic regulations has called for a thorough investigation and full transparency regarding the incident. They urged authorities not to treat this as a routine traffic accident.

According to the police, the motorcycle carrying three passengers was travelling against the flow of traffic on a one-way street at the time of the crash. Authorities further noted that the vehicle is suspected to be stolen and confirmed that the operator did not possess a valid driver's license.
