Parent dies after breathing difficulties during police-organised swimming class

A parent passed away yesterday while receiving treatment after experiencing breathing difficulties during a swimming session organized by Fulidhoo Police and Vaavu Atoll School for students, teachers, and parents.

The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Aishath Athifa, a native of Baa Atoll Kudarikilu. Police stated that she passed away while undergoing treatment at the Fulidhoo Health Center.

Athifa’s body was transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Malé for a medical examination before being handed over to her family late last night.

Following funeral prayers after the dawn prayer this morning, she was buried at the Aasahara Cemetery in Malé. Police confirmed that they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
