Police have reported that four individuals are in serious condition following a major accident in Hulhumalé Phase 2, which occurred when a motorcycle carrying three people crashed into another vehicle while attempting to evade authorities.
According to the police, a total of five people sustained varying degrees of injury and are currently receiving medical treatment. The victims are being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
"Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the motorcycles involved was carrying three passengers and travelling against the flow of traffic on a one-way street. Furthermore, the motorcycle is suspected to be a stolen vehicle, and the operator did not possess a valid driving license for that category of vehicle," the police informed the media.
The collision, involving two motorcycles, took place on Nirolhu Magu at approximately 2:55 am. Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
