Maldives Gas Deputy Managing Director Rukuma Mohamed Abdul Kareem has been sacked.
A reliable source confirmed his dismissal to Adhadhu. However, he has not yet commented.
Mohamed Abdul Kareem previously served as the Deputy Managing Director of Fenaka. He was transferred to Maldives Gas on July 1, 2025.
The reason for his dismissal from Maldive Gas is unclear. The reason for his transfer from Fenaka was also unannounced.
His dismissal comes as the state gas company faces a huge loss after running out of gas imported by the State Trading Organization (STO).
Adhadhu understands that Maldive Gas, run under STO, is out of gas and is currently purchasing gas from Villa Gas to fulfil orders.
Sources told Adhadhu that there is little hope of getting gas before the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan. But a shipment is expected to arrive on February 15.
