The top management of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has resigned due to government pressure.
Managing Director Mauroof Jameel and Deputy Managing Director Fayaz Mansoor resigned on Wednesday.
Mauroof was forced to resign despite his request to retire. Fayaz was an appointment made by Mauroof in January.
Some sources told Adhadhu that the main reason for dismissing the top management was their refusal to make decision in favour of ruling party MPs.
"The PNC [People's National Congress] does not believe that they can win the local council elections if Mauroof is in control of HDC," one source said.
Mauroof was appointed as the Managing Director of HDC on December 22, 2024. He has been in office for only seven months.
Under Mauroof's supervision, HDC developed a new master plan for Hulhumale'.
He played a major role when the artificial island was first reclaimed and the master plan for Hulhumale' Phase 1 was approved under his supervision.
