President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended a Tharaavees (meal after Taraaweeh prayers) hosted by parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla on Tuesday.
Cabinet ministers, MPs and senior parliament officials attended the event held at the People's Majlis.
Although Muizzu accepted Abdul Raheem's invitation for the Tharaavees, some sources said their relationship remains strained.
The long-standing feud between the two erupted on January 28, when Abdul Raheem's son Ibrahim Faisal was sacked as Tourism Minister.
In an interview with a local media, Abdul Raheem said Muizzu would not have sacked Faisal if their relationship was good.
Muizzu and Abdul Raheem had not met separately since then. During a meeting at the President's Office on February 20, the ruling People's National Congress (PNC)'s parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falaah was also present.
Government spokesperson Heena Waleed said the meeting was held to discuss the parliament's work for the new session.
Abdul Raheem has been isolated from activities of the ruling party while many of his close associates have been sacked by the government.
