Employees and vehicles of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) were used to put up campaign billboards of the People's National Congress (PNC) in Hulhumale' phase two ahead of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to the area last night, Adhadhu has learned.
Adhadhu has obtained a video showing HDC employees at work and confirmed that HDC's foreign employees were used to put up billboards.
When contacted for a comment on the issue, Mohamed Siraj, HDC's public relations assistant manager, said he would need to look into it.
"I can only say something after looking into it. No comment for now," Siraj said.
The political parties law prohibits the use of state resources and employees of state-owned companies for political purposes. However, the use of state resources for campaigning by ruling parties has been a longstanding allegation.
Ahead of every election, groups such as Transparency Maldives reiterate appeals against the use of any state resource for a political campaign or political gain.
