Black oil has been thrown at the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s candidate for Faresmaathoda, Ahmed Zaeem, while on his way to attend the candidates' debate.

Photos circulating in social media show Zaeem smeared with black oil while he was waiting in front of the venue for the debate, the Maldives National University (MNU) building on Ameenee Magu.
