Galolhu South MP Meekail Naseem, campaigning for the post of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Chairperson, pledged today to transform the party into an inclusive platform for all members.

In a message to the MDP general members, Meekail assured both elected officials and grassroots members that the party would guarantee space for everyone in the future, regardless of their current political leanings or internal affiliations.

"I want to assure the general members and those holding various elected positions within the party that no matter which side you support in this election, there will be a place for you in this party's future," he stated.

Meekail further urged members to vote for him in the upcoming chairperson election if they wish to see the MDP become a party that offers equal opportunities to everyone.

"I will ensure that you have the space to build your future within this party. If you want to make this an inclusive party where everyone has a seat at the table and fair opportunities, I ask for your vote of confidence in this election," Mickail said.

His remarks come at a time when his opponent in the chairperson race, former President Mohamed Nasheed, suggested that priority would not be given in the future to members who do not support him now.

The MDP chairperson election, scheduled for June 12, features a head-to-head contest between Nasheed and Meekail. Both candidates are currently conducting nationwide campaigns to secure the leadership post.
