Police have destroyed drugs worth MVR 400 million seized in various cases.
Police said 103kg of drugs out of 125kg were destroyed today. That is the amount the Prosecutor General's Office has allowed to be destroyed, police said.
Police said the destroyed drugs are 3121 pieces of evidence connected to 958 cases and 197 incidents.

The street value of the destroyed drugs was estimated at MVR 425,590,234.92.
With the latest changes in drug disposal procedures, the drugs seized in various cases are kept to the legally required level to investigate the case and the remaining drugs are disposed of as soon as possible.
Police said the drug destruction was carried out in Dhoonidhoo under the supervision of the committee constituted for the purpose.
