A third suspect has been arrested over Prosecutor General (PG) Hussain Shameem's assault with a hammer.
An additional suspect was arrested on Friday in connection with Shameem's assault, police said. The Criminal Court ordered the suspect to be detained until the end of his trial.
Two suspects were previously arrested over Shameem's assault.
Shameem was attacked by two men on a motorcycle on January 31. He sustained a bone fracture after he was struck with a hammer, the PG office said at the time.
Adhadhu understands that the suspects in custody belong to a gang in Male'. The number plate of their cycle had been changed for the attack and the suspects wore helmets and masks to conceal their faces, a source with knowledge of the incident told Adhadhu.
Police are investigating the assault as a serious case.
