Allegations of committing a criminal offense made against Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office Public Prosecutor Ahmed Shafeeu are under investigation, the police have said.
The police said photos related to Shafeeu circulating on social media have come to its attention and that an investigation was underway.
Public Prosecutor Shafeeu is also the PG office's spokesman. He represents the state in high-profile cases such as former President Abdulla Yameen's trials.
Shafeeu previously worked for a long period as a journalist at the state media Public Service Media (PSM) corporation.
