The final list of flat recipients in the first round of the current government's 'Gedhoruveriya' scheme was published on Saturday.
Some 4,000 flats are to be awarded in the first round of the housing scheme, including two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments.
According to the final list, the 4,000 flats in the first round will be awarded to applicants eligible for three-bedroom apartments who scored above 76 marks.
Applicants eligible for two-bedroom apartments who scored above 73 marks will also be awarded flats.
A lottery draw is due to take place to assign flats for the recipients of the 4,000 flats.
Recipients will be notified through the online portal of the date and time to attend the draw, the Planning Ministry said.
Aside from the recipients of the first 4,000 flats, other applicants deemed eligible in the final list would be handed a document through the portal confirming that they will be awarded flats under future government housing projects.
If a husband and wife submitted separate applications and were chosen among the recipients, one flat would be awarded to the couple.
The list was published after a complaint was lodged with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alleging plans to unlawfully hand out 4,000 flats. The complaint has now been registered with the ACC.
The government has been building 32 towers with 18 floors each in Hulhumale' phase two for the housing scheme.
The towers include 1,200 two-bedroom units and 2,800 three-bedroom units. Work is nearing completion on the flats.
In addition, the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation contracted India's Kalpataru Projects International Limited to build 4,000 flats in Hulhumale'. Another contractor was enlisted for a further 2,000 flats.
State Minister for Housing Akram Kamaluddin said the government is also planning to launch more projects in order to provide flats for all eligible applicants.
