A delegation of Members of Parliament from the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) departed for Pakistan today on an exposure visit.
According to the PNC, the delegation is led by the Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Abdul Raheem Abdulla. The party said that the visit is being conducted following an official invitation from the Parliament of Pakistan.
In addition to Speaker Abdul Raheem, the delegation includes PNC Vice President and Baarashu MP Ibrahim Shujau, along with 14 other PNC parliamentarians, bringing the total number of delegates to 16.
The PNC further noted that the delegation is scheduled to visit the Pakistani Parliament and hold meetings with their counterparts during the trip.
This visit by PNC lawmakers comes amid reports that President Mohamed Muizzu is also planning an official visit to Pakistan in the near future.
However, the government has yet to release any official information regarding a potential presidential visit.
