Accident victim in serious condition

A 74-year-old man who was injured in an accident in Male' on Friday evening is in critical condition, according to the hospital.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) spokesperson said the man is being treated in the ICU and declined to provide details of the injuries.

Police said the accident happened near the Chinese Embassy on Boduthakurufaanu Magu at around 7:45 pm Friday when a car and motorcycle collided.

The elderly man who sustained injuries was riding the motorcycle. Adhadhu understands that he is former Health Minister Abdulla Ameen's father.

Police are investigating the accident.
