President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has made important decisions regarding issues raised following salary hikes for health and education workers.

Government spokesman Miuvan Mohamed said medical officers and nurses had raised concerns with the President over the salary increase.

In addition, technical staff from the education sector also raised issues regarding the severance benefits, he added.

Miuvan said the new decisions were made after consulting with doctors, nurses and teachers as the President believes that they are facing difficulties.

With the changes, medical officers can now get an attendance allowance and a petition from the nurses working at the IGMH has been studied and resolved.

The President decided to grant attendance allowance to nurses if they work on public holidays and non-clinical nurses working in healthcare facilities will be categorized as clinical nurses.
