Addu City Council has reopened the bidding process to find a party to develop, operate, and maintain an entertainment and recreation facility on the island of Savaahili.
According to an announcement released by the council yesterday, the project involves the lease of 79,753.74 square meters (858,462.11 square feet) of land on Savaahili, along with its associated lagoon area. The land is offered for a maximum lease period of 50 years.
The scope of the project includes the development and maintenance of a beach area, establishing convenient transport links for public access to Savaahili, and introducing water sports and marine recreation activities. Additionally, the developer is required to construct a swimming pool, provide indoor and outdoor sports and entertainment services, establish public amenities including restrooms and changing facilities, and develop food and beverage outlets.
The opportunity to participate in this project is open to both local and foreign investors.
The window to purchase bid documents is open until July 30. Interested parties must submit a completed application form via email to finance@adducity.gov.mv.
Bid documents are priced at MVR 15,000 for 100 percent Maldivian-owned companies and individuals, while foreign entities can purchase the documents for USD 1,000.
An online pre-bid meeting to provide information regarding the project is scheduled for 10:00 am on August 9. Bid submission and the opening of proposals will take place at 1:00 pm on September 17 at the Addu City Council Secretariat.
The development of Savaahili was previously opened for bidding last year; however, the project was not awarded to any party at that time.
