The People's Majlis today approved the appointment of Fathimath Ameeza as the Commissioner General of Taxation.
The appointment was confirmed with a unanimous vote from all 64 MPs present during the session.
Ameeza currently serves as the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA). Her name was submitted to the Parliament for consideration by President Mohamed Muizzu.
In addition to Ameeza, Muizzu had also nominated Mohamed Haleem Abdulla, the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives, for the post.
The position of Commissioner General of Taxation became vacant following the resignation of Hassan Zareer, who stepped down to assume the role of Finance Minister.
