Ismail Rasheed, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun (Dhiraagu) has announced his decision to retire.

Ismail’s retirement comes after 40 years of service to the Maldives across various sectors. Dhiraagu has revealed that following his decision to step down, Valdemar Ferradaz has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer Designate, effective yesterday.

A South African national, Valde brings over 30 years of international leadership experience in telecommunications and digital services to the company.

"Valde has built a distinguished career in the industry, demonstrating exemplary leadership in building, growing, and transforming telecom businesses across both developed and emerging markets," Dhiraagu stated.

Ismail was a member of the founding team when the government established Dhiraagu in 1988. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in the development of telecommunications and digital connectivity in the Maldives.
