Male' Maldives: Six athletes from the Revival Sports High Performance Team have begun an extensive international campaign, departing for Malaysia on June 1 for a two-week high-performance training camp before competing in four BWF-sanctioned tournaments across Thailand and Europe.
The overseas programme is one of the most ambitious international tours undertaken by Revival Sports and forms a key component of the club’s long-term athlete development strategy, providing valuable international exposure, world ranking opportunities, and preparation for future regional and international competitions.
The six-player squad consists of national team players Nibal Ahmed, Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki, Hassan Zayan Mohamed, Mohamed Khalaf Imraan, Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq (Naba), and Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq (Naby). The delegation is accompanied by Revival Sports High Performance Team coach Nashfan Mohamed.
Following the completion of the training camp in Malaysia, the team will travel to the Czech Republic on June 14 to begin a demanding European tournament schedule.
Four International Tournaments on the Calendar
The first competition on the tour will be the TOYOTA Phuket International Challenge 2026, scheduled from June 9 to 14 in Thailand. Four athletes, Nibal Ahmed, Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki, Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq, and Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq — will participate in the tournament before joining the rest of the squad in Europe.
The European leg of the tour will commence with the Czech International Future Series 2026, taking place from June 18 to 21 in the Czech Republic.
The team will then compete in the Yonex Italy Open 2026 from June 24 to 28, before concluding the campaign at the FZ Forza Future Series Nouvelle-Aquitaine 2026 in France from July 2 to 5.
The series of tournaments will offer the athletes an opportunity to test themselves against international opposition while competing for valuable BWF world ranking points.
Revival Athletes to Feature Across All Major Categories
Revival Sports athletes are set to compete in every major discipline during the international tour.
In men's singles, Nibal Ahmed, Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki, and Hassan Zayan Mohamed will represent the club, while Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq and Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq will compete in the women's singles events.
The men's doubles competition will feature two Revival pairings, with Nibal Ahmed and Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki partnering together, while Hassan Zayan Mohamed and Mohamed Khalaf Imraan will form the club’s second doubles combination.
In women's doubles, sisters Naba and Naby will compete as one of the country's leading partnerships.
Revival Sports will also field two mixed doubles pairs, with Nibal Ahmed partnering Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq, while Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki teams up with Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq.
Important Step Towards Future International Goals
The overseas training camp and tournament programme form part of Revival Sports' broader high-performance development pathway and its preparations for future international competitions, including the Indian Ocean Island Games 2027.
With training blocks in Malaysia, competition experience in Thailand, and three consecutive tournaments across Europe, the athletes are expected to gain valuable exposure against higher-ranked international opponents while enhancing their competitive readiness on the global badminton circuit.
The month-long campaign represents a significant investment in athlete development and marks another major step in Revival Sports’ efforts to elevate Maldivian badminton through sustained international participation and high-performance training opportunities.
