Bangkok, Thailand: Revival Sports High Performance athlete Nibal Ahmed is currently in Thailand, where he is undertaking an intensive one-month training camp as part of his preparations for the 2026 Badminton World Federation (BWF), sanctioned tournament circuit.
The training program, running from January 10 to February 10, is being held at the renowned Banthongyord Badminton School, one of Asia’s most respected badminton academies.
This overseas camp forms a central component of Revival Sports’ long-term performance strategy, as the organization targets participation in multiple BWF tournaments during a critical year for international ranking progression.
The upcoming season holds particular significance for Revival Sports athletes following a seven-month absence from BWF-level competition, which stemmed from the Maldives’ suspension by the Badminton World Federation.
With international competition now restored, Revival Sports has intensified its focus on elite preparation, structured training environments, and performance optimization ahead of a full return to the global stage.
Nibal brings considerable international experience to the program, having previously completed several overseas training stints. These include a period in Dubai after receiving an Olympic Scholarship, as well as training in Indonesia following his signing with Revival Sports.
In January last year, he also completed a month-long camp at a highly regarded international badminton academy, further enhancing his exposure to high-performance settings.
A highly accomplished athlete, Nibal has been honored with the Best Badminton Player of the Year award at the Maldives Sports Awards and has also received the Best Junior Athlete Award, highlighting his sustained excellence across age categories.
A national champion, he has represented the Maldives at numerous international competitions, most recently competing alongside fellow Revival Sports athletes on the Southern Africa Tour, which included BWF tournaments in Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa.
The ongoing Thailand training camp is expected to play a crucial role in sharpening Nibal’s competitive readiness as Revival Sports prepares for a strong and sustained return to the BWF circuit in 2026.
