A historic meeting has commenced between three former presidents: Mohamed Nasheed, Abdulla Yameen, and Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
This marks the first time the three former leaders have gathered at the same table for discussions. Following the meeting, the three presidents are scheduled to hold a press conference.
The primary objective of this meeting is to form a united front in defense of journalists and to collaborate on addressing major national issues.
In particular, the three leaders will discuss the Muizzu regime's imprisonment of journalists and obstruction of freedom of expression.
The meeting comes at a time when the current administration has arrested and jailed Adhadhu journalists Mohamed Shahzan and Leevan Ali Naseer.
Shahzan was arrested after questioning Muizzu regarding allegations of sexual misconduct. Leevan was jailed for reporting on gag order banning discussion on a documentary.
Authorities have also arrested and remanded several individuals participating in protests calling for the release of the detained journalists.
