Mohamed Afeef Hussain has been appointed as the Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation.
The top position at the utility company became vacant following the dismissal of the previous Managing Director, Mohamed Najah, on April 6. Mohamed Afeef becomes the third individual to lead the corporation.
Afeef holds a Master’s degree in Sharia and has served the government for over 40 years in various capacities. Most recently, he held the position of Chairman at the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Leading up to the recent elections, Fenaka created hundreds of jobs across various islands. These positions were granted as a move to secure a majority for the government.
Fenaka Corporation provides electricity and water services to the majority of inhabited islands in the Maldives. However, it remains one of the most troubled entities among the country's state-owned enterprises.
