Serious complaints against Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan and Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry have been submitted to the Security Services Committee (241 Committee) of the Parliament.
The complaints were submitted by a group of senior police officers. A letter addressed to the 241 committee on behalf of 11 police officers of ranks above the chief inspector said the violations committed by Farhad and Shifan were adversely affecting the honor and dignity of the police force.
“We note that due to the undue influence and unlawful conduct of these two officers, there is no harmony among the senior leadership of the institution and the affairs of the institution are in disarray,” the letter read.
It warned that their actions could lead to the failure of the police to fulfill their responsibilities and duties and cause irreparable damage to national security.
The allegations against Shifan include cases of misconduct and abuse of office. Farhad was accused of using his positional influence to obstruct an investigation and destroying evidence related to an allegation against his son.
