Police have remained silent two months after USD 30,000 went missing from the evidence locker.

The money was seized in connection with an investigation on September 15, 2019. The missing USD 30,000 was exposed when the Criminal Court ordered the money to be handed over to its owner.

Police refused to comment when Adhadhu questioned about the progress into the investigation of the missing money.

On August 14, police said the Criminal Investigation Command was investigating the matter because some money was missing.

Public criticism of the police has been on the rise due to delays in investigations and other major concerns about integrity and professionalism.
