Popular television host Inayath Ali (Ina) and two others have been arrested in a counter-narcotics operation in Male'.
Police said two houses were raided in the operation on Thursday night. Police seized rubber packets containing narcotics during the raids.
The drugs weighed about 1.2kg. But police did not disclose the type of drugs seized in the operation.
Thirty-four-year-old Inayath works at the state broadcaster Public Service Media (PSM). She hosts prime-time programs such as Heyyanbo.
The other two suspects are 34-year-old Mohamed Ayish Ahmed and 25-year-old Aminath Illiyeen Ahmed.
Ayish was remanded in custody for 10 days, while Inayath and Illiyeen were remanded in custody for seven days.
According to the arrest warrant, Inayath and Illiyeen are housemates. They were arrested at their residence, where the drugs were also found.
Inayath tested positive for drugs as well. Police allege that the drugs seized in the case were found in a place connected to Ayish.
