Police have arrested three people and seized sharp weapons in a raid on a house used as a safehouse by a gang in Male'.
The suspects are 30-year-old Ahmed Nawaz, 22-year-old Ibrahim Zaidhan and 22-year-old Mohamed Shidhad.
They were arrested after raiding a house in Henveiru district on Wednesday.
Nawaz was remanded in custody for 30 days and the other two were remanded for 15 days when summoned to the Criminal Court.
The court order was issued under the Gang Crimes Prevention Act.
The new legislation, which came into force on August 25, gives the police more powers, such as making arrests and imposing raids without a court order.
