UNICEF Maldives and the Family Protection Authority (FPA) have launched the nationwide Udhuhilan campaign against child abuse.
The FPA said the campaign, which aims to build a happy and safe society and end child abuse, was launched after extensive dialogue among stakeholders.
FPA CEO Aminath Shiranee Naeem said the logo used in the campaign includes a wing to symbolize freedom. She said the campaign will encourage children to develop their skills independently and reach their goals.
UNICEF Representative to the Maldives Dr. Edward Addai said child abuse should be stopped immediately.
"Every child should grow up without fear. Every child should get the love and care they need. Maldives' future will be bright by protecting children," he said.
The campaign will work with families, communities and institutions to ensure that all children have a better future and thrive through protection, love and support.
About 300 cases of domestic violence against children were reported to the FPA last year while the same number of cases were reported by June this year.
