Male' Maldives: Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) had scheduled two beach volleyball tournaments to be held in the Maldives this month, but the events have been postponed following Bhutan’s decision to withdraw from hosting their competition, CAVA announced.
Maldives’ Addu City was initially set to host two major beach volleyball events this month under the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) calendar.
The CAVA Beach Volleyball Nations League was scheduled from 9–11 August, followed by the CAVA Beach Volleyball Champions League from 13–15 August, both at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Bhutan had been awarded hosting rights for the CAVA Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup, slated for 19–21 September. However, Bhutan has since withdrawn from organizing the event.
CAVA and Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) President, Mohamed Latheef, stated to "Adhadhu Sports" that, Bhutan’s withdrawal forced adjustments to the regional calendar.
“We are working to reschedule and host the competition in November, here in the Maldives,” Latheef confirmed.
He also revealed that the CAVA Challenge Cup is now likely to be relocated to the Maldives as well.
While Addu City was originally chosen as the venue for the beach volleyball tournaments, Latheef noted that the final location may still change, depending on circumstances and logistical considerations.
