Kyrgyzstan Complete CAVA Treble with Women’s CAVA Cup

Male' Maldives: Kyrgyzstan continued their dominance in regional women’s volleyball by defeating the Maldives in the final of the Women’s CAVA Cup 2025, securing a 3–1 sets victory and claiming the title for the second consecutive time.

Despite having lost to the Maldives during the league round, Kyrgyzstan produced a composed and resilient performance in the final to turn the tables when it mattered most. The Maldives made a strong start, taking the opening set 25–20 and raising hopes of lifting the trophy. However, Kyrgyzstan responded with authority, winning the next three sets 25–22, 25–17 and 25–21 to seal the championship.

The victory completed a remarkable treble for Kyrgyzstan on Maldivian soil, as they added the Women’s CAVA Cup 2025 to their previous triumphs at the CAVA U19 Championship and the CAVA Women’s Challenge Cup. The result also extended their dominance over the Maldives in major finals, with the Maldivian side suffering final defeats to Kyrgyzstan in both the CAVA Challenge Cup and the Women’s CAVA Cup.

For the Maldives, the defeat meant finishing the Women’s CAVA Cup 2025 as runners-up. While disappointment followed the loss, the silver medal marked the fourth time the Maldives women’s national team has secured second place at an international volleyball tournament, underlining their continued presence among the region’s top teams.

Outstanding performances from both sides were recognised with selections to the tournament’s Dream Team. Hawwa Rashidha was named as one of the Outside Hitters for the Maldives, alongside Kyrgyzstan’s Bolotbekova Nurzhamal. The Middle Blocker roles were awarded to Kyrgyzstan’s Amirakulova Saikal and Maldives’ Nareema Idhurees. Fathimath Joozan Zareer of the Maldives earned selection as the tournament’s Setter, while her teammate Aminath Shaha Shamin was chosen as the Opposite Player. Kyrgyzstan’s Seiitrblova Asema completed the Dream Team lineup as the Libero.

Although the title eluded them once again, the Maldives’ strong showing throughout the tournament and multiple Dream Team selections reflected their progress and competitiveness on the international stage, as Kyrgyzstan reaffirmed their status as the region’s leading force in women’s volleyball.
