The police have failed to make an arrest more than 72 hours after the brutal murder of 65-year-old Abdul Rahman Adam in Alif Alif Maalhos.

Abdul Rahman died on July 13 when an unidentified suspect attacked him on the head while he was sleeping at his home.

He died while undergoing treatment at the island health centre.

Police have not said whether they had detained any suspects in connection with the murder and the police media officials have not been responding to phone calls.

A police forensic and homicide department team went to the island on July 13 to investigate the case.

They searched the house and the neighbouring areas and collected some evidence. They also questioned some residents and took foot and handprints and DNA samples.

Abdul Raheem's body has been taken to India to conduct a post-mortem.
