Male, Maldives: Maldives National Cricket Team star, Yoosuf Azyan Farhath, has stepped down from his role as captain at Milan Cricket Academy.
Azyan, 24, who recently won the Best Cricketer Award for 2024 at the Cricket Evening, has decided to step down from his role as captain to focus on his higher studies.
He has chosen to pursue a scholarship at Malaysia, that will help him advance in his academic journey.
"During his time as captain, MCA had won it's very first domestic title, adding an impressive 4 more to the tally in the years that followed," Milan Cricket Academy stated on their Facebook page.
Milan Cricket Academy also announced that Azyan will continue to represent the academy whenever possible, although his primary focus will now shift to the Malaysian Domestic Cricket circuit.
Currently the number one batsman in the Maldives, Azyan recently won the Best Batsman award at the Bhutan Invitational Cricket Tournament, where the Maldives secured second place, finishing just behind Thailand.
Coming from a cricketing family, Azyan began his career with great promise, winning the Best Cricketer award at the age of 19 in 2019. He also had a stint with the Frankston Peninsula Cricket Club in Australia.
Despite facing some injuries throughout his career, Azyan has made a strong comeback and has been performing at the top level of Maldives cricket for nearly a decade.
