Male', Maldives (August 24) - The Maldives National Cricket Team will participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A, which is set to be held in Malaysia.
The Maldives team departed for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yesterday. They will play three preparatory matches against local Malaysian teams ahead of the qualifiers.
The T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A will feature seven countries: Maldives, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Singapore. Following a round-robin format, the top two teams will progress to the final qualifying round.
Sri Lankan coach, Pasindu Liyanaarachchi will lead the team in the qualifiers. He will be assisted by former national team player and coach, Ahmed Neesham Nasir. The team manager is Ali Mohamed Manik.

- Maldives vs Singapore (31st August)
- Maldives vs Kuwait (2nd September)
- Maldives vs Hong Kong (3rd September)
- Maldives vs Myanmar (5th September)
- Maldives vs Mongolia (6th September)

The top two teams will advance to the Regional Final, where they will compete for the final two spots available for Asian teams.
The captain of Team Maldives will be Yoosuf Azyan, who has returned from injury and is currently performing well in recent domestic competitions. The vice captain is Adam Nasif Umar, a former captain of the team.
