Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) protesters were injured after police used excessive force on Wednesday night.
Photos and videos on social media show police using excessive force to disperse the demonstrators at the nightly protests launched on March 7.
An unusually large number of police officers were working to disperse a relatively smaller crowd of protesters, causing injuries to some people.
There were also concerns as male police officers were dealing with female protesters.
The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) had earlier said it would continue to monitor the demonstrations.
Earlier this week, police officers used pepper spray directly towards the faces of protesters while two MDP officials were also taken into custody.
MDP began the protests in Male' to demand President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's resignation over the intimidation of judges and disqualification of flat recipients.
