The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has summoned Criminal Court judges to take their statements in the investigation into the alleged influence by Supreme Court judges to release Justice Azmiralda Zahir's husband.

The JSC could not be reached for comment on the matter but Adhadhu understands that the commission has taken the statement of Criminal Court Judge Ibrahim Zihunee. Judge Safwath Habeeb will be summoned tomorrow.

The JSC has accused Justice Azmiralda Zahir and Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir of influencing the case. The two judges are currently on suspension in connection with a separate case.

Azmiralda, Mahaz and Husnu Suood, who resigned today, were suspended after the ACC informed JSC about a criminal investigation against them. But the ACC and JSC have not provided any information on the case.

Their suspension came amid a constitutional case on MP disqualification. The People's Majlis has also approved an amendment bill to remove two Justices and reduce the size of the bench from seven to five members.
