Credible sources have said Island Expert Pvt Ltd, which was involved in the construction of police and military flats in Hulhumale', gave expensive “gifts” and benefits to various police officials.
Sources with information on the matter told Adhadhu that some senior police officials were given cars and motorcycles while the interior of their apartments were also completed during the construction of the flats.
"Police chiefs often went to Bangkok at the time. The trips were also arranged by Island Expert. This has been a popular topic among police since then," one source said on condition of anonymity.
Some of the flats used by Island Expert are still occupied by police officers, sources said. So they do not believe that the case can be properly investigated.
Meanwhile, the People's Majlis has launched an investigation after high-priced vehicles imported for the police Blues Housing Project allegedly went missing.
Some MPs told Adhadhu that the Public Accounts Committee was investigating the current location and registration of 24 vehicles imported while work was ongoing in the Blues Housing Project in Hulhumale' from 2014 to 2017 by Noomadi/ Island Expert.
Multiple reliable sources told Adhadhu that the missing vehicles include 14 crane lorries, two brand-new motorcycles, two vans, a car, three tower cranes and an overhead travelling crane.
Under the initiative of the Public Accounts Committee, relevant agencies are investigating corruption in the Blues Housing Project and the Police Cooperative Society (Polco).
