Three men have been arrested at the Velana International Airport (VIA) in connection with a fight in Male' in September last year.
Police said they had fled the country after the fight and had been living in Thailand. An Interpol red notice was requested for their arrest.
They were detained and deported by the Thai authorities. Police arrested them at VIA upon their return to the Maldives.
Police said one of the suspects was released by the Criminal Court while the other two were remanded in custody for the trial.
"They were arrested with a court warrant when they arrived in Maldives from Thailand. One was arrested on September 18 and the other two were arrested on September 19," police said.
The two suspects who were remanded in custody are Mohamed Ahsam, 26, and Mohammed Sibth Abdulla, 19.
Police said further investigations were underway.
