Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon has met with China's National Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun to discuss further strengthening military ties between the two countries.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum. Maldives Ambassador to China Dr. Fazeel Najib also attended the meeting.
The government did not disclose details of the discussions.
Maldives and China have previously held talks to strengthen military ties.
In March, Maldives and China signed an agreement to provide military assistance to Maldives military and security services.
Under the agreement, China will provide military equipment and training to Maldives, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said. However, he did not provide details.
