A permanent centre for the Quran will be established in the Maldives, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 36th national Quran recitation competition, the President said that a plot of land will be arranged to redevelop a centre for the Quran as pledged in his manifesto.
A permanent centre for the Quran will be established with modern facilities, the President pledged last night.
“I intend as well to establish for the first time in the Maldives a special permanent centre for the Holy Quran prepared with the help of modern technology. With God’s will, I will make it a reality as well,” the President said.
In addition, the President last night that starting next year the Quran recitation competition will become an annual event with the most valuable prizes.
Moreover, the government will increase the number of free Quran classes, broaden the service across the country, and redouble efforts to increase the number of people who have memorised the Quran.
