Managing Director of Business Center Corporation (BCC) Ibrahim Ziyau has said that the company has decided to give up two floors of its SME hub due to high costs.

Ziyau told Adhadhu that BCC is giving up the ground floor and second floor of the SME hub building. However, he said the first floor where small businesses operate kiosks will continue. The two floors are scheduled to be vacated at the end of July.

"There are 19 vendors in the middle floor. Those 19 vendors will remain there to sell food. They are home-based small businesses. We will not vacate them," he added.

Ziyau said the two floors to be vacated are run by BCC to generate revenue.

“We are vacating the two floors run by BCC because of the high cost. There is a wrong message circulating on social media,” he said in response to speculations that the SME hub would be closed down altogether.

The second floor of the SME hub was a place for different games and entertainment. The SME hub was established under a project carried out by the Economic Ministry of the previous government.
