A water motor has been stolen from a mosque in Male' amid a spike in theft.
The water motor was stolen from the Dharumavantha mosque, the Male' city council, which is responsible for mosque maintenance, said in a post on X last night. The council has reported the incident to police.
"Police have attended the crime scene and officers are working on gathering information needed for the investigation," police said in a post.
Last week, two wall fans were also stolen from the Dharumavantha mosque, located between Muleeage and Sultan Park.

In separate incidents, seven fans were stolen from the Thaquwa mosque, the Male' city council said.
The council posted a video of the theft on its X account today. The security camera footage shows a man taking away a stand fan while the mosque was empty.
Seven fans were stolen from the mosque in Henveiru over three nights, according to the council, which has shared the video footage with police.
Statistics show that more than 1,000 cases of theft have been reported to police so far in Ramadan. Cases of theft and burglary rise during Ramadan each year.
