Maldivian has issued the final notice to the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) over MVR 5.6 million owed by the former ruling party to the national airline for trips made during last year's presidential election campaign.
An official from Maldivian confirmed to Adhadhu that the final notice had been sent to the current opposition party. The official noted that the company is not targeting MDP or a particular group.
The company's recovery department always takes various steps to recover the outstanding amounts owed to the airline, the official said, adding that such notices have been sent to other groups besides MDP.
However, the company did not disclose the other groups that had received the notices.
Adhadhu understands that MDP was repeatedly informed to make the payment for the services obtained during the presidential election campaign.
But since the payment had not been settled, Maldivian sent the final notice to settle the payment before January 18. The notice adds that a lawsuit will be filed if the payment is not settled by the deadline.
