Indian military personnel boarded the Asurumaa 3 fishing boat from Alif Dhaal Mahibadhoo while it was inside Maldivian waters, Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam said on Wednesday.
The manager of the Asurumaa 3 boat told Adhadhu that two Indian ships surrounded the boat since 2:30 pm. The soldiers, who disembarked from the Indian ships, boarded the fishing boat and repeatedly interrogated them.
In a post on X, Fisheries Minister Shiyam said Indian soldiers boarded Asurumaa 3 while it was located 72 miles east of Haa Alif Thuraakunu and while the crew was fishing for Yellowfin tuna.
He shared a photo that showed the GPS location of the boat and said that the Fisheries Ministry's vessel monitoring system confirmed that the boat was inside Maldivian waters.
He assured that the Fisheries Ministry was working closely with the boat and Coast Guard to monitor the situation.
