Bank of Ceylon and Mauritius Commercial Bank have joined the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)'s instant payments system Favara after a testing phase.
The central bank signed the agreement with the two international banks on Sunday.
Customers of the two banks will now have access to all Favara services including Favara Transfer, Favara Request, Favara ID and Favara Recall.
Bank of Maldives (BML), State Bank of India (SBI) and Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) were the first to participate in the system introduced in August.

Favara is the biggest recent change to the country's payment structure, assuring security, convenience and innovative changes to the financial system.
