Former Bank of Ceylon Deputy Country Manager Hassan Waheed was sentenced to over three years in prison for stealing $150,000 from a customer. He was convicted of forgery and theft for the 2019 crime. NewsSBI granted permission to sell island to recover MVR 869 million
The minimum price for the sale of Dholhiyadhoo island has been set at USD 15 million. The court permitted SBI to sell the island within 45 days. If a buyer can be found within that duration, the money will be divided among the three banks within 10 days.
